Our Story
Founded in 2018, the Beacon brand emerged after our original store, "Bosuns Locker," moved into a newly refurbished 7,500 sq ft retail space in 2016. This pivotal move facilitated the expansion of our product range to include premium lifestyle brands like Schoffel, Didriksons, Joules and Fairfax & Favor.
Since then, we've continued to expand our product and brand offering, incorporating an array of homeware products such as candles, books, games, drinkware and more.
1980
Bosuns Locker Founded
Opening originally as a marine chandlery, Bosuns Locker grew to become one of the largest chandlers, boat sales and marine service centres in Scotland.
Trading today as Port Edgar Chandlery, you will find everything you need for life on the water, from quality sailing gear by top brands including Helly Hansen, Musto and Gill, to a huge catalogue of marine hardware such as paints, rigging, safety gear and more.
2014
Port Edgar Redevelopment Begins
The redevelopment of Port Edgar Marina began in 2014 which included plans for a new 7,500 sq ft retail space in a historial World War I shed. Seizing this opportunity, Bosuns Locker set its sights on a significant expansion.
2016
New Store Opens
In 2016, the construction of the new retail space reached completion. Bosuns Locker moved into the new space and expanded it's offering with premium lifestyle clothing from brands such as Schoffel, Didriksons, Joules and Fairfax & Favor.
2018
Beacon Brand Launched
Following the success and popularity of our expanded product offering, the Beacon brand was launched in 2018 and became home to our premium lifestyle brands whilst staying true to our nautical roots.
2024
Today
Since the Beacon brand launched in 2018, we've continued to expand our product and brand offering, incorporating an array of homeware products such as candles, books, games, drinkware and more.
We proudly serve as official stockists for numerous premium lifestyle brands. Among these esteemed labels are Fairfax & Favor, Joules, Schoffel, Dubarry, R.M.Williams, and many others, offering an extensive range of high-quality clothing and accessories for every season and occasion.

We would love to welcome you to our store! You can visit us at Port Edgar Marina in South Queensferry, about 30 minutes from Edinburgh city centre. Plenty of parking is available at the marina. We're open from 10am until 5pm 7 days a week.
